Welcome to Pakse the gateway to placid southern Laos also is the capital of Champasak Province. You will be greeted by your local driver and tour guide and begin your Laos tour package with an exploration of Pakse neighbors. Travel to Vat Luang Temple, the biggest and main temple in Pakse situating on the bank of Sedone River and facing the main bridge. Next, stop at a rice noodle factory where you will learn about traditional way of processing rice. Lastly, hike up to the Phou Salao hill peak to admire Pakse town and Mekong River from above. Afterward, travel to Bolaven Plateau for check-in the Sinouk Coffee Resort at the elevation of 1000m.
Set off your energetic day, you will venture the thrilling Bolaven Plateau by riding on bumpy dirt road and passing by local villages and settlements. You will experience rugged but stunning scenes and feel the authentic Laos. The route will lead you to Ban Lao Ngam. Next, you will discover the remarkable Tad Lo Waterfall. On the way down, you can indulge yourself with a coffee break at the coffee plantation. Then head to Champasak for overnight.
This morning, you will head to Vat Phou, a pre-Angkorian temple since 10th century as a Hindu Temple which then changed into a Buddhist monastery. This temple on the serene west bank of Mekong River built on seven terraces with an axis was listed as a UNESCO Heritage site. The electric car will take you to the base of mount Phou Kao, pass two lakes from where you can walk to the ancient axis to explore the from the sculptures, terraces, temples and then a natural spring and stone animal carvings.
This afternoon, you will travel to Ban Kiet Ngong and immerse in the region’s wetland siting at the foot of Phou Asa which extend 700 hectares between Ban Phapho and Ban Kiet Ngong. Have a short stroll through the village to reach the wetlands with villagers who will let you experience their traditional canoe. This single wood piece is their traditional fishing boat. The riding reveals wonderful landscapes of aquatic vegetation, fisherman catching fishes, water buffalos, wildlife of bird species as well as the jungle elephants. Making a stop at Donlay Island, you will have around 1-hour hike to the Xepian Natural protected area. The boat then will take you back to the shore and return to hotel in Champasak.
In the morning, you will travel to the pier and embark on the motor boat for 15 minute ride to the little island Don Daeng. Hop on your bicycle and ride into the gorgeous countryside of Don Daeng Island. The place lies peacefully at the downstream of Mekong River. Enjoy the wining paths around the island, you will find the tropical landscapes in the mix with dense jungle and the rural villages of fishing community.
Thereafter, depart from Champassak region to Khone Island where you can proceed the sightseeing of Siphandone with renown 4,000 islands. You will travel to the village of BanNakassang where a local boat will ride you around 30 minutes to reach the Don Khone and Don Det Island. Check-in the lodge and have resting time till rest of the day.
Today, carry on your Laos adventure tour exploring 4000 islands Laos by bicycle from Don Kong the largest island in the region. Head to the south of island, you will have a ferry transfer over Don Som Island. Next move on to the unspoiled Don Loppadi Island. Your pleasant cycling will give opportunities to intermingle with local villagers and observe some of handicraft makers. Moving further to the south until you reach Don Det Island. After lunch, cycling on small trails in the east of the island crossing old railway bridge to Don Khone, the last destination. The island is featured by the laid-back ambience, stunning waterfalls, colonial architectures and fishing communities. After the interesting venture on Don Khone Island in Laos, you will return to your lodge.
At leisure this morning or exploring the surroundings on your own. At good time, travel to Pakse Airport for your flight to next destination.
