Hue is well known as an ancient capital of Vietnam, where the last feudal dynasty ruled before the Indochina War began. The Hue sightseeing day tour will reveal a tranquil landscape and Imperial constructions. Despite the battles and historical events, the Nguyen Dynasty's heritage remains extremely valuable today, which has led to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When visiting Vietnam, travelers can see some of the country's dynamic, modern cities, but the rich culture and architecture in Hue set the city apart. Our one-day tour and sightseeing in Hue introduces the best things to do in Hue, Vietnam.
In the morning, you are greeted by your local guide at the hotel lobby for tours and sightseeing in Hue. Drive to the Royal Citadel and the Forbidden Purple City, where the Nguyen Royal family of Vietnam lived from 1802 – 1945, known as the Nguyen Dynasty. The Citadel's outer wall is up to 10km long and surrounded by a wide moat that makes the citadel totally detached from the outside. Despite most of the buildings not being intact due to bombardment, the remaining monuments and rock-moss walls continue to inspire and offer an extraordinary glimpse into Royal court life.
Among the best tourist attractions in Hue, Vietnam, we can't miss the Thien Mu Pagoda, situated near the Perfume River and offering a peaceful atmosphere. Strolling through the pagoda, you will find out why it has become an iconic place in Vietnamese Buddhism. Occasionally, you will observe a daily prayer recital.
Afterward, we venture to the rural area of Hue toward the Imperial Tomb of King Tu Duc, the longest-reigning monarch, a poetic stop on our Hue sightseeing tour itinerary. It’s optional to stop en route to visit local houses that make incense sticks and conical hats. On the way back, you will stop at Tu Hieu Pagoda, built in 1843 in a pine forest. You might encounter the chanting moment. Tu Hieu Pagoda is also where the late Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh first entered the monastery and where he passed away in 2022. We then get back to your hotel and finish the full-day tour and sightseeing in Hue.
