Why Ha Long Bay ?
Halong Bay situating 165km (102 miles) from Hanoi is one of the most natural captivating spots of Vietnam with nearly 2,000 rising limestone peaks scatter over the emerald green ocean. Over the last millions of years, the tectonic and geological changes and shifts, and erosion in the area have resulted in both the seawater and surrounding stones and rocks in their present form. Though its islands are unhabituated, Ha Long Bay hosts multiple ecosystems, including the evergreen rainforest and coastal ecosystem. There are around 40 big and small caves in the cliffs some of which are large and open for visiting. This is why Ha Long Bay is also considered a geological museum. Travelers mostly board overnight cruises to explore Halong Bay; some go with day trip and return Hanoi within a day. Quietness seekers can choose Lan Ha Bay, a sister of Halong Bay in the area of Hai Phong Province and Cat Ba Island. Karst mountains in Lan Ha area is less dense than Halong Bay; however, there are chances to input Cat Ba Island visit into the itinerary.
